Maxine has been a resident of Arizona since her childhood, coming to Yuma from Iowa with her parents in 1952.  In 1962 she moved to Tucson, spent a short time in Missouri, returning to Arizona in 1992.  As a child she fell in love with Arizona and is pleased to spend her retirement in Gold Canyon.

During her professional career, Maxine was town manager of Patagonia, Arizona, an incorporated municipality, from 1978 to 1985, and was the first woman to hold that position in Arizona.  In that position she became one of the first Flood Plain Managers, served as Elections Officer, oversaw all aspects of town government, and served on various Governor’s Commissions under 4 Arizona Governors; Governors Babbitt, Symington, Hull and Napolitano.

Maxine went on to serve as executive director of the Southwest Missouri Indian Center located in Springfield from 1987 to 1990, returning to her beloved Arizona in 1991.

Upon her return to Arizona in 1991, Maxine was appointed the executive director of Central Arizona Association of Governments (CAAG) and served in that position until her retirement in 2011.  As CAAG’s executive director, Maxine oversaw the regional planning organization for Pinal and Gila counties, working directly for the two Boards of Supervisors, 17 city mayors, and three tribal governments.  Along with 26 CAAG staff members, she provided planning activities for the region, holding contracts with Arizona Department of Transportation, Department of Commerce, Department of Economic Security, US Department of Commerce as an Economic Development District, and provided grant writing and administration for the CAAG region.

Maxine has been privileged in her retirement to continue serving northern Pinal County as a volunteer in the areas of her many interests.
