Purpose of the Role

Provide governance, leadership and long-term stewardship for the Superstition Area Land Trust. Board Members help protect the mission, strengthen the organization and ensure SALT has the leadership and community support needed to continue its work for future generations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate actively in Board discussions and organizational decision-making.
  • Help provide strategic direction and protect SALT’s conservation mission.
  • Support the development of a stronger volunteer leadership structure.
  • Serve as an ambassador for SALT within the community.
  • Help build relationships with potential volunteers, partners, members, sponsors and supporters.
  • Support SALT events, programs and community activities when possible.
  • Bring professional experience, community knowledge, relationships or other useful perspectives to the organization.
  • Help ensure SALT remains focused on long-term organizational health, leadership capacity and conservation impact.

  • A thoughtful, dependable person willing to participate in organizational leadership.
  • Someone who brings useful experience, community relationships or a perspective that can strengthen the Board.
  • A collaborative leader who is willing to help SALT grow beyond a small group carrying the majority of the work.
  • Someone interested in helping build an organization that can remain effective for the next generation.

What Success Looks Like

SALT develops a broader, engaged Board with the capacity, relationships and leadership needed to guide the organization while empowering committees and volunteers to carry out the work of the mission.
