Join Ron Mousseau for an exciting SALT Speakers Series talk March 10th at 6:30PM in Rm 117 of the Apache Junction Multigenerational Center. (See below for a virtual link.) Ron is an avid hiker who’s spent countless miles exploring the rugged beauty of the Superstition Wilderness Area and the surrounding Arizona State Trust Lands. While the Wilderness is preserved, it is SALT’s mission to conserve as much of the State Lands south of it as possible. Note that hiking or otherwise using State Lands requires a recreational permit for access.
Ron will share practical tips on discovering and enjoying these incredible areas responsibly. He’ll dive into the best trail apps (AllTrails, Gaia GPS, onX Backcountry & more) for finding hikes, offline planning, and staying on established paths to protect the fragile Sonoran Desert ecosystem; real-world navigation tips with Garmin and iPhone/Android apps; and how smart tech + stewardship keeps our desert wild and open for everyone. Whether you’re a beginner or seasoned explorer, come get inspired to hit the trails safely and mindfully!
Ron is also the most recent addition to the SALT Board, having served for approximately a year. His professional experience in co-developing a couple of financial services software companies (since sold) has sharpened his ability to tackle complex challenges, foster collaboration, and drive sustainable outcomes — skills he hopes to apply to conserving our desert landscapes.
This presentation is part of SALT’s 2025-26 SALT Speakers Series to be held monthly on the 2nd Tuesday in collaboration with the Apache Junction Parks and Recreation Department as a combined in-person and virtual format. It will be held in Room 117 in the Apache Junction Multigenerational Building starting at 6:30 PM March 10, 2026. All those interested in this topic or in SALT’s mission to conserve the Superstition Foothills are urged to attend.

SALT is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to conserve the natural Sonora Desert open space surrounding the Superstition Wilderness Area.
The Superstition Area Land Trust (SALT) works with public agencies to protect vulnerable Sonoran Desert foothills—part of Arizona’s 9 million acres of state trust land—threatened by urban sprawl and managed primarily for revenue.

Donating to the Superstition Area Land Trust (SALT) helps preserve the Sonoran Desert’s fragile foothills, wildlife, and open spaces for future generations.
